The suit doesn’t have to be formal and stuffy. Since our inception we’ve championed bold and louche ways to wear tailoring, whether in the form of unusual textured fabrics, eccentric patterns or playful separate combinations. There’s always a place for a traditional, well cut navy suit, but at Sexton we’ve always enjoyed experimentation. Our latest drop, Summer Breeze demonstrates our penchant for playful, luxurious tailoring that can be dressed up with pin collar shirts or down with our new cotton and cashmere T-shirts. These are beautifully cut pieces that draw from Edward Sexton’s rich cultural heritage while remaining luxurious, versatile and effortlessly cool.

open weave cotton blend

The first look represents our vision for soft, summer tailoring. The jacket is cut from a remarkable open weave cotton linen blend, which is breathable and light yet holds its shape surprisingly well. Finished in off white and with a chocolate brown windowpane, it combines our generous peak lapels, single front button and rear vent with soft shoulders and patch pockets for a more laid back, summery feel. It’s a natural pairing for our chocolate brown Contemporary trousers, finished in high twist, crease resistant 100% wool, and our new cotton cashmere T-shirt. Fully fashioned from a single piece of fabric and knitted with the same attention to detail we apply to our tailoring, this luxurious take on a casualwear classic is incredibly soft and lightweight, making it perfect for combining with our summer jackets.

green patch pocket open wave jacket

Next up is a more interesting take on the classic navy blazer, stone trouser combination. This pale green jacket updates the look, giving it a throwback feel that’s half Italian Riviera, half 1960s Manhattan member’s club. Cut from a wonderfully textured cotton linen fabric, its open weave ensures day long breathability, while its soft handle makes it extraordinarily comfortable. The latter point is only furthered by its unstructured cut, with soft, natural shoulders working with the notch lapels and patch pockets to create a relaxed, sophisticated appearance. It works with navy trousers and a knitted T-shirt, but we’ve paired it here with our cotton linen blend Classic trousers, a green striped shirt and leather trainers for an adaptable, smart casual combination.

prince of wales jacket drape notch

You’ve seen our teal overcheck suit before. The lightweight wool fabric it’s made from is soft, breathable and references classic Sexton with its eccentric check pattern. This time we’ve cut it in a more subtle, softer, more adaptable jacket which comes complete with notch lapels and patch pockets for a slightly more laid back feel. It adds a rock ’n’ roll flair to our navy linen Hollywood trousers, which is accentuated by our signature pin collar shirt. Worn open with our gold collar studs, the shirt adds a touch of old school glamour to these highly adaptable tailored separates.

robert redford casual tailoring overshirt

Last up is a contemporary take on the safari suit. A staple of the 1970s with everyone from Roger Moore to Robert Redford making it their own at one point for another, this is a louche weekend option for leisurely strolls around town or indeed, in the bush. The matching shirt and trouser set is cut from a sand cotton linen blend, which is remarkably lightweight and soft, yet holds its shape throughout the day. The jacket’s four front pockets and relaxed silhouette makes it practical for travel, while the trousers work just as well with a smarter blazer and shirt combination. Elegant, comfortable and effortlessly chic, it sums up what this Summer Breeze drop is all about.
